Review fields and placement in a PDF

Check and correct where answers, dates and signatures appear in a PDF.

Field review connects a question in your form to the place where its answer belongs on the PDF. Review both the question and its page position; correcting one does not necessarily correct the other.

Compare the source and extracted fields

After importing a document, work through every page. Match each name, address, choice, date and signature to the source. Check whether two similar blanks belong to one repeated answer or to two different people. A signer date is different from an ordinary appointment or event date.

Keep document wording separate from response values. A paragraph explaining an agreement should remain readable text; an actual blank should become a field only when the respondent needs to fill it in.

Review and correct placement

  1. Check the placed and not-yet-placed counts shown by the review.
  2. Use Previous page and Next page to inspect all pages.
  3. Select an existing box to inspect its field. Where offered, Edit this field changes the question; Remove from document removes its page placement.
  4. For an unplaced field, start placement and follow Tap where [field] goes. Use Cancel if you selected the wrong field.
  5. Open the full document editor with Proceed when you need more room to place or adjust fields.
A field needs the correct question and the correct position on the page.

Removing a box from the document is distinct from deleting the question. Check both the field list and page after a change so you know which behavior you changed.

Confirm saving and preview

If the interface reports We couldn’t save your last change, choose Try again and confirm the change remains visible after saving. Continuing past a review screen does not prove that every question is placed: the setup can open the document editor with fields still needing attention.

Preview the respondent flow and complete a sample with realistically long values. Check whether text fits the available space, whether choices mark the right locations, and whether signatures belong to the correct role. Inspect the completed output as well as the empty template.

Common corrections

If a field is missing, add or correct the question and then place it. If an answer appears twice unexpectedly, check repeated mappings. If a signature is under the wrong person's name, review both the signer role and its placement. Start with PDF troubleshooting if the source is unreadable or exceeds the import limit.
