Choose the source that preserves the work you already maintain. The main Formesign chooser provides three methods; Google Docs, Sheet signature and workflow setup also have dedicated entry points.

Preserve wording and layout

If approved wording already exists, importing the source is usually easier to review than generating new wording from a short title. A generated outline is a starting point that you must check. For a document whose page layout matters, use the PDF path and inspect the placement before sharing.

The Document signature product headline mentions Google Docs, while its hero button currently opens the PDF upload path. The separate Docs add-on route handles that starting point. A Docs URL is not a PDF file to upload.

Choose what happens to the original

Forms import screens offer a copy flow and an Edit my existing form alternative. A copy gives you a separate form to configure; editing existing uses the source form. Check ownership, current respondents and the links already in circulation before selecting the latter.

A Sheet used as a source is different from the spreadsheet that receives form responses. Choose Sheet signature to sign the selected spreadsheet content; use Google response sync to send answers into columns.

Choose the signing process next

An additional signature on one submission and a separately invited signer are different experiences. For a person completing the same response alongside the respondent, see additional signatures. For different people acting in order, follow Signature workflow.
